Everyone keeps asking me if I have found a dress yet.... and honestly, I haven't even started looking and think I will be taking my sweet time to find one. I have a lot of faith in one of my girlfriends in San Francisco who runs
2 stores packed with fabulous designer dresses who promised to be my personal shopper/stylist while we are in the city. These gowns from
Martha Stewart Weddings make me think the job of actually picking one might just be the most difficult task of all. How did you pick your wedding dress?

These are gorgeous!! I have to admit picking the wedding gown was the hardest part of wedding planning for me. I went to many stores, and tried on many many dresses. It can get overwhelming and you start to lose sight of what is really your style and what seems like something a bride would wear, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteThe way I knew my dress was the one is that I could picture myself wearing it to a black tie event in another color. And then I still visited it 4 times before finally buying =)
But I never got that "this is the only dress for me" feeling people talk about, there were many dresses that I loved. Best advice? Once you find the dress , stop looking!!
I totally understand what you mean between your style and what a bride SHOULD wear, and I think that is my problem here... I have never worn a long gown in my life and we are getting married at a lake outside and it just seems out of place in our rustic venue, although then again, I am always over dressed, especially here in small town Germany.

ReplyDeleteI remember picking out my wedding dress. I think I actually decided in under 2 hours at the first dress shop I went to. It really is true that when you try on the right one you know. If you have to think about it too much, don't buy it!
